Manufacturer Kingsdown has shifted to producing hospital beds at its headquarters in Mebane, North Carolina, in Shawinigan, Quebec, and in Toronto. The three plants are making beds for healthcare facilities and temporary healthcare outposts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have surveyed our production capabilities, audited our inventory and determined that Kingsdown can, and will, convert our manufacturing over to hospital and emergency care grade beds,” said Frank Hood, Kingsdown chief executive officer. “We’re reaching out to the hospital systems throughout North America to assess their needs to ensure we can meet their needs during this public health crisis.”

Kingsdown’s Medical Vinyl Xpress mattresses come in three heights, have a polyurethane foam core and an antimicrobial vinyl cover. The company also designed and is producing the new Motion Care Xpress adjustable bed frame. Both the mattresses and the base are approved for medical settings.
