On March 5, employees at industry supplier A. Lava & Son, in Chicago, received their first Covid-19 vaccination while on the job. All those who wanted the vaccine were able to receive it, the company said. Illinois classifies manufacturing workers as essential and, therefore, eligible as part of Phase 1B of the vaccine rollout. Doses were administered by the medical services provider the company uses for ongoing staff testing. In about four weeks, all 350 A. Lava employees who were inoculated will receive their second dose.
“Today we offered our employees the opportunity to participate in an on-site vaccination program that we hosted,” Adam Lava said. “We will continue to carefully follow all CDC guidance and measures for maintaining a safe, healthy workplace until we get through this health crisis. We’re proud to continue to take steps that keep our employees and their families safe and healthy!”
In February, A. Lava announced it had been acquired by Irvin Products, a subsidiary of the Piston Group, whose founder is Detroit entrepreneur and former professional basketball player Vinnie Johnson.
