Poker Tournament Raises $162K For Autism Charities

More than 100 poker players gathered in the South Point Hotel and Casino on July 27 to try their luck and support a good cause. 

And support a good cause, they did. The 16th annual Texas Hold ‘Em tournament raised $162,957, which will support five autism charities: Autism Speaks, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital – The Kelly O’Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, Grant A Gift Autism Foundation – Ackerman Center, National Autism Association of Southeast Ohio and Stockhands Horses for Healing. Since the start of the tournament in 2008, the Ante4autism event has raised almost $1.5 million to support families, kids and adults on the autism spectrum. 

While players worked their way to the final table, more than 100 people came by to watch the action and bid in a silent auction.  

Las Vegas resident Amy Wingate took first place, followed by Larry Barnard in second and Jared Carlitz of Bedding Industries of America in third.
