BedTimes: Describe your role in a few sentences.

Mary Thorpe: As the manager of industry research and analytics, I oversee the analysis and interpretation of industry data to provide our members with actionable insights. My focus is on enabling our members to make informed, data-driven decisions by developing industry reports and data visuals that are easily accessible and understandable.

BT: What drew you to the International Sleep Products Association and the bedding industry?

MT: I was drawn to ISPA because of my passion for data and analytics. The opportunity to highlight industry data via reports and dashboards and uncovering insights that can make a tangible impact to our members is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, who doesn’t love to talk about mattresses? This industry’s continued innovation to help the world sleep better keeps me motivated to continuously learn.

BT: What is most exciting about what you do?

MT: The most exciting thing about my role is the opportunity to speak directly with individuals at major mattress manufacturing companies and global suppliers. I learn how they utilize content from ISPA and explore ways we can continue to drive value for our members. Additionally, working with experts both inside and outside the organization broadens my understanding of how mattress sales play an important role in the larger economic landscape.

BT: What do you hope to accomplish?

MT: As a newer addition to ISPA, I am enthusiastic about providing data and knowledge essential to industry success. However, my role is just one cog in the ISPA wheel. Enthusiasm, dedication and excitement are evident throughout the entire organization and in every department. We are a mighty team determined to support innovation and growth across the sleep products industry.

BT: What is your best sleep tip?

MT: Since I am a data geek, I think sleep trackers and apps provide helpful information to monitor sleep patterns. Analyze your data, look for trends and track the factors that impact your sleep. Use your sleep data to make informed decisions about how to improve your sleep quality.
