Following their debut at the January 2025 Las Vegas market, Shifman Mattress Co. reports that its new Timeless and 1893 luxury collections have been placed at several key retail partners.
“We chose the Timeless Collection, in particular, because of its exquisite craftsmanship, design and luxury value,” said Kevin Irving of Cardi’s Furniture and Mattresses, based in Swansea, Massachusetts. “As an old-school merchandiser, I appreciate how these products make a statement on our floors. From the classic design and attention to detail, to one of the last two-sided mattresses available, to a fully-functional box spring — these are things largely void in the marketplace today.”
According to the company, Newark, New Jersey-based Shifman Mattress Co has stood for handcrafted products with features like hand-tufting, in-factory processed natural cotton and 8-way hand-tied boxsprings since 1893. The Timeless and 1893 collections reflect the company’s decades of dedication to designing and crafting luxury mattresses and aim to set a new standard of style, artisanal craftsmanship and luxury that resonates with retailers and consumers alike.
“We take up to 13 hours to craft a single sleep set. That’s extremely uncommon in today’s culture of private equity-owned companies,” said Bill Hammer, president of Shifman Mattress Co. “Luxury isn’t about hitting a price point. Timeless and 1893 embody luxury, from the all-natural components to the hand-intensive expertise that goes into making each one, to the pure beauty of each product. We’re obsessed with crafting the most beautiful, comfortable and long-lasting products possible. And we believe our retail partners appreciate that dedication to an entirely different level of product design and craftsmanship.”
The talk of component cost increases and supply chain delays hasn’t hit the launch so far, according to Hammer. “It’s obviously something that impacts a lot of manufacturers who are importing heavily from overseas. That isn’t a scenario that affects us as significantly at this time. We are moving forward as planned,” he said.
In addition to Cardi’s, Shifman says that the Timeless and 1893 collections have been placed in select retailers across the country. “We’re not a mass-produced brand,” Hammer said. “We’re selective when choosing our retail partners. We invest in developing true partnerships with them so that they succeed in luxury bedding. We saw that potential with Cardi’s because of the position they have earned in the market, and we believe that together we will continue to grow this critical segment of their business.”
