BedTimes: Tell us about your bedtime routine.

Filippo Arnaboldi: I don’t have a strict routine — it often depends on whether or not I’m traveling — but I always make sure I go to bed by 9 p.m. I’m an early riser, so I’m always up at 5 a.m.

BT: How many hours do you typically sleep? How many hours do you need at minimum?

FA: Seven hours minimum

BT: What is the best sleep product that you own and why?

FA: I love Frette’s Cortina firm down pillow. I personally love the firmness to help me have the best sleep, but it’s also encased in Frette’s signature cotton sateen, so the pillow still has a soft, luxurious feel.

BT: What are your best sleep tips?

FA: Go to bed early and set up the right temperature for the room and find the sheets that best match your preferred type of sleep.

BT: What do you do when you have insomnia?

FA: I don’t tend to have insomnia, but if I do, I think about all of the beautiful things in my life and what makes me most happy and calm.

BT: What’s on your nightstand?

FA: I love to read, but rarely have time to make significant headway, no matter how good the story. So, on my nightstand, I have many books that I tend not to read in full, but in small pieces.

BT: Do you sleep barefoot or in socks?

FA: Barefoot

BT: Where is the last place you got a great night’s sleep that wasn’t your house?

FA: Le Logis, an enchanting retreat in the Cognac region of France. It was a great weekend spent with clients, and it made for a great sleep because there is no noise. The ambiance is one of a kind.

BT: What are your secrets for getting a good night’s sleep while traveling?

FA: Fight the jet lag and immediately get into the local time zone.

BT: Now for a game of “Would You Rather?” Sleep mask or sound machine?

FA: Sleep mask

BT: Physical book or Kindle?

FA: Physical book

BT: Before bed, reading a book, watching a show or listening to a podcast?

FA: Reading a book

BT: Is there anything else you’d like to add?

FA: Frette recently released a global campaign, titled “The Bed Is a Place,” which reintroduces Frette’s Icons collection — our sheet sets designed for every kind of sleep along with a new perspective on the bed itself. The bed is more than just a piece of furniture: It’s a highly personal space — where you start and end your day, where you laugh, where you cry, where you love. A space with that level of emotion should be treated with care and is worth the investment in quality pieces.
