In the video, John Merwin, who founded the Phoenix-based company with his brother, Rob, explains that they grew their “company organically. … We mastered the craft of building a better mattress and chose end-to-end manufacturing as a way to control quality and cost for our customers. … Every (mattress) that leaves our factory is designed and constructed here, by our family, and shipped to another family in the United States. Maintaining that integrity and very personal relationship with the families we serve is essential to us.” Brooklyn operates a 145,000-square-foot factory in Phoenix and was one of the original e-commerce players, shipping its first boxed bed in 2008.
