Lenzing promotes Tencel in pillows

Viscose fiber supplier Lenzing Group, with headquarters in Lenzing, Austria, is promoting its Tencel branded lyocell fibers for use in pillows.

The company said in a news release that testing revealed pillows filled with fibers score well regarding moisture management, loft and ease of care. The Tencel fibers traditionally have been used in mattresses and top-of-bed items.

The fibers were tested for moisture management with the use of Sherlock, a perspiring, thermal manikin used for testing clothing and that was developed by the Hohenstein Institute.

Lenzing said further research at the company showed fibers in pillows work best when combined with polyester fill, offering good recovery and moisture dissipation.
