Best-Place-to-Work Malouf Invests in Expansion

Malouf headquarters expansion artist's rendering

In a flurry of news, Malouf released this artist’s rendering of its 2019 plan to triple the size of the company’s campus in Logan, Utah.

Logan, Utah-based sleep products supplier Malouf burnished its image with a number of announcements and accolades as it closed the old year and started the new.

It announced it has placed No. 8 in the 2019 Best Place to Work list compiled by popular employment website Glassdoor.com. And the company opened a fourth warehouse, this one in Frazeysburg, Ohio, while citing plans to greatly expand its headquarters. Meanwhile, customers and other visitors to the Logan headquarters are welcomed to nearby newly decorated luxury apartment suites completely fitted with Malouf products. Finally, Malouf has launched a powerful new website for the nonprofit Malouf Foundation, which focuses on fighting human trafficking.

Among the 830,000 businesses found at Glassdoor, Malouf ranked No. 8 in the small and medium category for businesses with fewer than 1,000 employees.

“We’re honored to receive this impactful award,” said Sam Malouf, founder and chief executive officer. “Each employee has made a direct contribution to this accomplishment. It’s clear that the people are the main reason to work here.”

The new Ohio distribution center ships the company’s entire product line throughout the Midwest and Northeast and boasts more than 1 million square feet of warehouse space. Malouf said it is able to deliver all of its products to the entire continental United States in less than two days.

According to Mike Douglas, vice president of sales: “This new warehouse was strategically chosen to improve shipping for our wholesale partners and their customers. It also closes the gap between what the industry offers and what major retailers promise with two-day ground shipping.”

The headquarters expansion will triple Malouf’s office space to 160,000 square feet and follows the hiring of more than 122 employees in 2018. The construction project began in September and is expected to be complete by the fall. The new floorplan will comfortably accommodate 388 employee workspaces. The two-story expansion also will house a new 23,000-square-foot showroom where customers can experience Malouf products and private-label products first-hand.

They also can check out Malouf’s lineup when they stay at one of the company guest suites at 22 E. Center St. in Logan. The 1906 building in the city’s historic district has been restored and houses three elegantly decorated apartments complete with bed, bath, kitchen and living areas.

And bedding industry members are encouraged to check out the new Malouf Foundation website (MaloufFoundation.org), which provides insights into the aftercare received by child survivors of trafficking and offers a simplified donation process to support the foundation’s causes. Attendees of this month’s Las Vegas Market will want to attend the latest Forging Freedom event, Monday, Jan. 28, 4:45-5:45 P.M., World Market Center, suite C1312.
