Diamond Mattress Adds 2 Execs

Todd Freer

Adam Ziegelman

Family-owned mattress maker Diamond Mattress, with headquarters in Rancho Dominguez, California, has created two new positions, naming Todd Freer business development executive for national accounts and Adam Ziegelman vice president of marketing.

Freer, who has nearly 30 years of industry experience, previously was with Kingsdown for four years as key accounts manager. He was responsible for revenue and profit growth for a 12-state region. He also spent 13 years with Simmons Bedding Co., where he moved up through the sales organization managing diverse national accounts, marketing plans and distribution initiatives. He began his furniture and bedding career in 1990 as a store manager.

At Diamond, Freer reports to Steve Anderson, vice president of business development.

Commenting on the hire, Anderson said: “Todd’s strong retail background gives him directly applicable knowledge, skills and ability to relate to the retailer’s needs and challenges to engage the consumer and elevate their experience. That is what Diamond’s custom solutions are focused on, and Todd will be a great asset to our team.”

Ziegelman most recently worked with WD-40, where he led cross-functional global teams in research and development, product development and marketing. Prior to that, he held executive roles in marketing for Patagonia, VF Corp., STM and the Away Network (a division of Orbitz).

In his new role, Ziegelman is responsible for the development and implementation of branding and marketing strategies, as well as go-to-
market initiatives across all platforms. He is working closely with the sales and business development teams. He reports to Shaun Pennington, president.

“Adam has a long and proven track record with brand innovation that’s successful at retail and resonates with end consumers,” Pennington said. “His expertise is exactly what we need as we position our company, customers and partners for strong growth through a period of
disruption.”

Ziegelman said: “I am honored to join the Diamond team. This is such a unique and exciting time in the company’s history. I look forward to being a part of this generation of successful growth.”
