BekaertDeslee Joins Sustainability Initiative

Textile and sewn covers supplier BekaertDeslee, with world headquarters in Waregem, Belgium, has joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative, promising to employ corporate responsibility and sustainable business practices.

The UN Global Compact encourages companies to create a culture of integrity by incorporating 10 principles in the areas of anticorruption, environment, human rights and labor, and to take action in support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

“BekaertDeslee is proud to join thousands of other companies globally committed to taking responsible business action for a better world. Assuming sustainability means offering safe, high-quality products and ensuring that business activities are environmentally friendly and socially responsible,” a news release stated.

Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 9,500 companies and 4,000 nonbusinesses in more than 160 countries and more than 70 local networks taking part.
