Naturepedic, a certified-organic mattress and bedding manufacturer, based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, is ramping up to produce 5,000 face masks per day for the general public, in response to the coronavirus mask shortage. The masks are produced and sold at cost, and the company also is donating masks to facilities in the area that are in need.
Made with two layers of 100% organic cotton fabric, certified to the GOTS organic standard, Naturepedic’s masks are durable and machine washable and are free from synthetic fibers and chemicals commonly found in conventional face masks, the company said. More information and an order form are available at the company website.
The face masks have adjustable elastic straps, which keep the mask secure, while achieving maximum comfort. They are not designed to be N95 particulate-filtering ventilator masks worn by medical personnel. These masks are designed in accordance with CDC recommendations for everyday consumers’ use.
“The response has been overwhelming,” said Naturepedic Vice President Jason Cik. “Orders have been flooding in every day. Our donations to the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and other local facilities have also been greatly appreciated.”
