Corsicana Grows Private Label Team, Awards High Performers

Corsicana Mattress Co. is expanding and renewing its focus on the private label business that laid the foundation for its growth into a nationwide manufacturer. The Dallas-based company also awarded three top-performing members of its sales team with its second-annual Eagle award.

In its private label business segment, Corsicana promoted Kevin Cooley to product development manager, hired Aqsa Tasleem to the same role and brought former intern Nohemi Jimenez into a full-time role as product development engineer.

Cooley and Tasleem are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the mattress maker’s private label product development, including product design, cost analysis and marketing campaigns. Jimenez assists in the development and testing of new designs, feasibility assessments for plant operations and inspection of samples.         

Cooley joined Corsicana in 2019 as territory manager and is credited with opening 24 accounts and conducting retail training.

Tasleem brings a decade of experience to her new post. Previously, she oversaw private label merchandising in men’s apparel at JCPenney. Her background also includes merchandising and global sourcing positions with Bedgear, Standard Textile Co. Inc. and Kassim Denim.

Jimenez began as an intern with Corsicana in 2015 while a student at the University of Texas in Dallas. Upon earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering she joined the company full-time.

Each reports to Mike Loomis, vice president of product development and innovation.

Having a team of experts that possess impressive leadership skills and knowledge of the industry is crucial in building our private label programs. I am more than confident Kevin, Aqsa and Nohemi will bring continued success to Corsicana and create long-lasting relationships with retailers across the country.”

Recipients of the company’s sales-performance award — who each received a crystal eagle trophy — were John Knight, an Atlanta-based territory manager who has been with Corsicana since 2001; Joey Showers, a New Mexico-based regional sales representative with the company since 2001; and Mario Holguin who manages sales in Southern California since 2018.

“Last year was a tremendous year for Corsicana overall,” said Chief Executive Officer Michael Thompson. “While we saw outstanding growth throughout the country last year, these three executives posted strong gains in their territories. Under their watch, the New Mexico, Atlanta and Southern California territories have posted consistent revenue gains setting the standard for their peers.”
