DownEast Outfitters Twin Folding Mattress Recalled

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, retailer DownEast Outfitters Inc. in Salt Lake City has recalled certain Mattress On the Go folding mattresses that can be used as a chair or bed. Only twin-size beds are included in the recall.

About 1,600 of the twin mattresses were recalled because they fail to meet the mandatory federal flammability standard for mattresses, posing a fire hazard. No injuries have been reported.

The twin-size, two-tone gray mattresses are 38 inches wide. When configured as a mattress they measure 4 inches high. The white tag on the underside of the mattress says: “Downeast Home & Clothing, Item # 5540033515” and “Made in China.”

The twin mattresses were sold at DownEast stores nationwide for about $110 and also donated to various facilities from November 2017 through December 2019. They were manufactured by Relux Mattress Co. Ltd. of China.

The CPSC said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mattresses and contact DownEast to receive a free cover, including shipping, to bring the mattress into compliance with the federal standard.

DownEast can be reached at 800-337-3076 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT, weekdays, email at [email protected] or online at DownEastHome.com and click on the Recall tab for more information.
