New Retailer Loves Furniture & Mattresses Prepares For Opening

The new Loves Furniture & Mattresses website announces the new retailer's opening.
New retailer Loves Furniture & Mattresses says it is a “furniture store for the modern age.”

New retail brand Loves Furniture & Mattresses is hiring 1,000 retail and corporate positions as it prepares to reopen 27 former Art Van Furniture, Levin Furniture and Wolf Furniture stores. The new retailer is headquartered in Royal Oak, Michigan, and is owned by Dallas-based private equity firm U.S. Assets Inc., led by founder and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Love.

According to a news release, the storefronts are in six states — Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Most are former Art Van locations in Michigan. U.S. Assets purchased the inventory and assets of the stores, all of which were owned by Art Van Furniture Inc., for approximately $6.9 million following the latter’s March closure and subsequent Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing.

“We are building a totally new customer experience rooted in personalized service,” said Matt Damiani, chief executive officer of Loves. “We are looking for great talent, at all levels, to join us on this journey. Our team members will have the opportunity to help customers build homes and spaces they love in a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive.”

The new retailer describes itself as “a neighborhood furniture store for the modern age” with a “customer-led shopping experience.” Consumers can choose to shop online, in-store by appointment or as walk-in customers.

“Our excitement to open these 27 locations is only the beginning as we are already looking at opportunities to grow and expand our new brand with a much larger footprint,” Jeff Love said.
