DETROIT – Irvin Products, a subsidiary of the Piston Group formed by Detroit businessman and NBA legend Vinnie Johnson, announced today the acquisition of Chicago-based A. Lava & Son, a leading cover supplier in the North American mattress market. A. Lava, established in 1917, was a family-owned business and is the largest ‘Made in the USA’ cover producer supporting the bedding industry. Former principals Adam Lava and Steven Applebaum are continuing on with the business in their current management roles.
This acquisition expands Irvin Product’s footprint into the Midwest region and further diversifies the company’s growing list of markets, products and end customers. A. Lava has strong industry reputation for their solution-based approach and ability to meet and exceed the demands of the dynamic bedding market.
