Matsushita Marks 75th Year

Yukitoshi Matsushita, company president, is the son of the founder.

Matsushita Industrial Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of mattress machinery based in Osaka, Japan, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

The company was founded by Ryoichi Matsushita in 1946 in Osaka as an industrial sewing machine specialty store. The current president, Yukitoshi Matsushita, is the son of the founder.

In 1962, the company dispatched an inspection team to the furniture and bedding industries in Europe and the United States, which led to the company’s current status as what it calls Japan’s only manufacturer of pocket coil spring manufacturing machines.

In 1971, the company opened a factory in Matsuura, Nagasaki, which is still in operation today. The company focuses on pocket spring and assembly machines under the brand name Tecmic.

In addition to Japan, Matsushita has been selling its machines in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa for more than 25 years. It is unveiling a new model, the PKT-CT Cotton Pocket Spring Production Machine, at ISPA EXPO, March 8-10, 2022. The PKT-CT produces pocket springs using cotton instead of nonwoven fabric.
