SSB Revamping Leadership as Huet Departs

Melanie Huet

Bedding major Serta Simmons Bedding is revamping its leadership structure with the upcoming departure of Melanie Huet, the company’s chief commercial officer.

SSB said that Huet will be leaving the Atlanta-based company to pursue new opportunities, effective June 3.

Huet, who joined SSB in 2019, “has been an integral part of the executive leadership team,” leading the company’s journey “to become a consumer-centric organization,” SSB said. “She and her team have also provided world-class service to our retail customers, building and honing our relationships with thousands of partners.”

In April 2021, when Huet was named chief commercial officer, she headed a team that brought together sales, marketing and innovation functions.

Last December SSB said it was integrating its direct-to-consumer and commercial functions under Huet’s leadership. With that change, Huet was responsible for the complete SSB brand portfolio and commercial strategy.

Shelley Huff, SSB’s chief executive officer, said that the company is making changes with Huet’s departure that will enable SSB “to function as a more nimble organization.”

Jen Daly, chief marketing officer, will now report to Huff and will oversee all elements of brand strategy and marketing. And Derek Miller, chief sales officer, will also now report to Huff.

SSB also said that it is actively recruiting for a head of innovation. That position will report to Huff.

Huet joined SSB after spending time in a variety of marketing and sales roles with The Kraft Heinz Company, Kimberly-Clark and Unilever.
