Princeton, New Jersey-based Therapedic International announced its newest licensing partner, BedFounders (PTY) Ltd, a leading manufacturer of custom and private-label sleep products in the South African market.

According to a new release, BedFounders has supplied South Africa with value-driven house brands and private label mattresses since 2012. The company has grown significantly since it rebranded two years ago and serves a diverse portfolio of retail partners including national, independent and specialty bedding retailers. Last year, BedFounders moved into a new factory, designed and constructed specifically to expand the business on a national and global scale. The growth of BedFounders has also been backed by the support of the diverse investment firm VEA Group and its managing director, Marno Nel.

Managing Director Johann de Meyer said BedFounders is poised for an exciting brand launch in January, rolling out its Therapedic products in the following two months.

“The South African bedding market is ready for a new international brand, and Therapedic, with its leading innovation, technology, and versatile range of products, is the perfect match,” de Meyer said. “The positioning of the Therapedic brand and product offerings will allow for differentiation and newness in this market, creating value for our retail partners and end users, and providing organic and sustained growth for years to come.”

According to de Meyer, a growing middle class in the South African market is creating greater demand for quality and affordable sleep products. Trends indicate a shift and need for options with modern designs and affordable luxury. He noted that key market segments such as household and hospitality industries are seeking comfort, sustainability, innovation and improved quality of life, which sleep products directly affect.

Therapedic International CEO and President Gerry Borreggine believes the new partners are aligned in their passion for value-driven, quality sleep products. “BedFounders has a culture of superior service; they are hyper-focused on it and seek to exceed expectations. It shows in their people on the factory floor and carries through in their products,” Borreggine said.
