Tacoma, Washington-based Relief Bed International has delivered donated relief beds to multiple relief efforts this fall, including a Tacoma rescue mission, Jamaican hurricane relief, and a homeless shelter in Washington state.

According to a news release, Relief Bed International donated 100 relief beds to the Tacoma Rescue Mission on Oct. 15 to help with an emergency transition shelter. On Nov. 3, the organization delivered another 100 beds to its longtime partner, World Vision U.S., in Fife, Washington, to support rebuilding efforts in Jamaica and surrounding areas after the devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall in Jamaica on Oct. 28.
Also on Nov. 3, following a visit to homeless shelters in Portland, Relief Bed International founder Scott Smalling said he received “a gentle nudge” that moved him to contact Set Free Northwest, a Chehalis, Washington-based rehabilitation mission he had visited previously, asking if they could use some mattresses. “The line went a little quiet, only to hear a resounding, “Yes, please,” Smalling said. During that call, the mission shared that it “had just had a meeting that exact morning” about the need for new mattresses for its program.

“Each mattress represents more than a bed; it offers hope, healing and the first step toward a new beginning,” Set Free pastors John-David Griffin and Michael Tallman Sr. said in an acknowledgement letter to Relief Bed International. “We are deeply grateful for your partnership in serving our neighbors in need.”
