As we enter a new year, BedTimes is evolving to give members a more direct view of the International Sleep Products Association’s priorities. Going forward, I will use this column to highlight trends, initiatives, and decisions that affect the businesses we serve—ensuring the voice of ISPA’s leadership is open, accessible, and closely aligned with the needs of our community.
ISPA is also entering an important chapter, one that reflects how our industry has grown and how we want it to continue to grow. This month, we introduce updated membership categories that better represent the full range of companies involved in creating and delivering sleep products. These updates clarify our long-standing producer, supplier, and supporting member groups, recognize sleep accessories as their own category, and welcome retailers as affiliate members.
These changes come from a simple idea: Our industry works best when the people who shape it can learn from one another. Today’s marketplace connects manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, accessories brands, and service providers in ways that didn’t exist even a decade ago. Bringing these perspectives together within ISPA strengthens our ability to understand what is happening across the industry and to respond thoughtfully to what comes next.
There is plenty ahead to prepare for. Companies are refining how they reach consumers. Environmental, regulatory, and trade issues continue to evolve. Interest in sleep and wellness is expanding, creating new opportunities for everyone who plays a role in helping people sleep better.
Throughout the last year, ISPA has focused on giving members the information and support needed to navigate these shifts. We are tracking more legislation, following global developments that could influence manufacturing and supply chains, and continuing to provide economic data that companies use to guide planning and investment. Our events—the ISPA EXPO, Industry Conference, and Sustainability Conference—remain places where the industry comes together to share ideas, solve problems, and build relationships. And through the Better Sleep Council, we continue to promote messages that help consumers understand the value of quality sleep products.
Welcoming new categories of members strengthens all this work. When more voices take part in the conversation, we gain a clearer picture of what our industry needs—whether those needs involve packaging regulations, mattress recycling, federal standards, trade issues, or consumer expectations that continue to shift.
ISPA’s role is to support the businesses that shape this industry and to help ensure its long-term strength. As we begin 2026, I am encouraged by the shared commitment I see across our community. As we enter this new chapter, my hope is that we will carry forward the commitment that has guided ISPA for more than 100 years and apply it to the possibilities ahead. We have achieved a great deal together, and I am eager to see what we can create for the next century of this industry.
Together we serve as the Voice of the Mattress Industry™!
