Woolroom Joins GenM Collective to Support 15.5 Million UK Women Navigating Menopause

NEWS RELEASE

NATURAL bedding brand Woolroom has been awarded GenM’s menopause friendly certification – the MTick® – marking a major milestone in the brand’s mission to help women sleep better throughout menopause.

The MTick® is the universal symbol and certification awarded to brands that meet strict evidence-based criteria and align with GenM’s goal of empowering women on their menopause journey to search, source and shop for menopause solutions with confidence.

To qualify, products must demonstrate credible evidence that they ease, relieve or support one or more of the 48 recognised signs of menopause, with two of the most common and disruptive sleep-related symptoms being night sweats and sleep issues, including insomnia.

The certification was awarded to the Rutland-based business based on independent evidence demonstrating the temperature-regulating and moisture-managing abilities of the brand’s natural wool bedding, which helps solve common menopause-related sleep challenges.

As the only natural bedding brand certified with the MTick®, Woolroom’s certified range includes its pillows, duvets, mattress toppers and mattress protectors across its classic, deluxe and organic ranges in all sizes and weights.

Chris Tattersall, managing director and sleep expert at Woolroom, said: “Sleep disruption is one of the most common and frustrating parts of menopause. Our research with British Wool in 2024 showed that more than 83% of women suffer broken sleep due to menopause symptoms, equating to an average of 219 disrupted nights every year – highlighting the severity of the problem.

“We’re really excited to be partnering with GenM and to have received our MTick® certification, as this reflects our commitment to helping women navigate the experience of menopause with far greater confidence. We’re passionate about giving women trusted information as well as trustworthy, sustainable, chemical-free products, empowering them to make informed choices about their sleep environment, which help them feel more comfortable, better rested and supported throughout menopause.”

Independent testing conducted by the International Wool and Textile Organisation (IWTO) and Bangor University in 2026 and the University of Leeds in 2016 evidences the outstanding thermal regulation and moisture transmission abilities of Woolroom bedding due to the air pockets within wool’s fibres.

This breathability helps to create a cooler, drier sleep environment than any other bedding fibre type, helping to reduce night sweats and overheating, thereby improving the ability to gain the amount of deep, restorative sleep required to wake up feeling rested.

GenM’s Invisibility and Inclusivity Reports highlight a significant gap between the needs of menopausal women and the support they receive from brands and retailers. Many women continue to struggle to identify products that can help manage their symptoms, while demand for trusted, clearly labelled menopause friendly solutions continues to grow. The MTick® helps address this challenge by providing evidence-based signposting that enables women to shop with greater confidence.

Heather Jackson, CEO and co‑founder of GenM, said: “As GenM continues to grow, we are not only expanding awareness of menopause, but also improving how women can confidently identify solutions that improve their experience of menopause. Woolroom’s certification is a powerful example of this impact within the sleep category, supporting often overlooked signs such as disrupted sleep, night sweats and temperature changes.

“By bringing brands like Woolroom into the GenM collective, we’re helping women search, source and shop for trusted solutions that can help manage their menopause journey with confidence.”

As part of its new partnership with GenM, Woolroom joined the team for the GenM X Raye pop-up store, the world’s first ‘one-stop shop’ for menopause-friendly shopping. Running on Kensington High Street from 1-11 October, the pop-up gives shoppers the chance to discover and buy MTick®-certified products, including Woolroom’s Deluxe Standard Pillow, as well as the opportunity to speak with the brands and GenM’s team about their own menopause experiences and shopping needs.
