Based in Northern Italy, Brighi Group is continuing its drive to expand in the United States, as Brighi USA Inc. brings a globe’s worth of expertise to meeting the unique challenges of bedding-industry customers in the North American market.

At the same time, the maker of fully customizable automated machinery remains rooted in family ownership and a commitment to customer relations that leads to solutions, one manufacturer at a time.

By combining its engineering, software, and deep production know-how, the company produces fully integrated machine lines that transform how mattresses, bedding, and home textile products are made, packaged, optimized, and even recycled—bringing advanced automation and integrated solutions across the entire process to an industry in transformation.

56 years and growing

Brighi Group dates to 1970, when Antonio Brighi (pronounced “bree-hee”) repaired industrial sewing machines for the apparel industry. In 1985, his firm shifted into bedding, upholstery, and home textiles when it designed and built the G164 sewing machine, able to close cushions edge to edge without glue.

The innovations kept coming. Spotting unmet demand for automation in pillow manufacturing, Brighi introduced its pillow production machine line in 2015. That automated system, which handled everything from raw material to packaging—became the first of many such lines sold in the U.S. market.

“Pillows were not given a value at the time, and we saw value in them,” says Marketing and Sales Coordinator Laura Marconi. “So, we decided to put all our strength and all our innovation and automation into that, which throughout the years led us to present the first automated line in the pillow world—something that was never done before.”

Brighi’s step-by-step approach incorporates modular technology for flexible investment and full integration that positions the company as a primary technological partner in home textiles and rugs, packaging, foaming and rebonding, and textile recycling.

Brighi’s evolution did not stop there. Building on that expertise, the company expanded into new sectors with the development of two specialized divisions: foam-making machinery and digital solutions. The foam division produces advanced machinery for processing and handling polyurethane and other foam materials, supporting industries such as bedding, furniture, and automotive. Meanwhile, the digital division enhances Brighi’s production lines and equipment through smart technologies, data integration, and software solutions to optimize peak efficiency and enable Industry 4.0 capabilities.

From Italy with love

In the late 2010s, Brighi was attending the International Sleep Products Association’s EXPO event, where it recognized that the North American bedding-products market needed access to automation in production. This realization drove the company’s expansion across the Atlantic Ocean and ultimately led to the formation of Brighi USA Inc. in 2021. With headquarters in Houston, the subsidiary encompasses a Thomson, Georgia, technical center and parts warehouse, and showrooms in Los Angeles and Phoenix.

The new Brighi USA facility that opened in Dallas this year is a logistical hub for parts and a showcase for Brighi solutions. “Our goal is to support U.S. customers by sharing not only our technology, but also the knowledge, vision, and experience we’ve developed in Italy and across global markets,” says Global Marketing Officer Milva Morani.

It’s all part of Brighi USA CEO Alessio Brighi’s commitment to sustaining and growing the Brighi presence in the United States, with service and solutions customized for American customers. “We are deeply engaged with our North American customers on addressing their specific challenges,” he says.

Brighi USA Inc. is a fully American firm, resourced by its parent company but established with an American mindset to better serve American customers and understand their challenges. The U.S. outlook is enriched by Brighi’s global perspective from working in 72 countries. Every time Brighi collaborates on solutions that fill labor gaps, save transport costs, or improve working conditions and hours, the lesson is learned and applied all over the world.

“We put it all together, and this gives us the possibility to understand in advance what could be needed,” Alessio Brighi says. “The reason why Brighi USA Inc. is a very focused company is that it lives from the light, all the connections, all the information, and all the signals from all over the world.”

Circular economies and secondary markets

As seen at ISPA EXPO, Brighi is a leader in recycling and sustainability. Its growing recycling division features two distinct lines supporting a circular economy through recycling, reuse, and waste reduction, while also saving manufacturers money on raw material purchase and disposal. New secondary raw materials then emerge for filling mattresses, cushions, and upholstered furniture.

Brighi’s modular recycling line for foam scraps, fiber, and textile waste includes machines for recycling polyurethane waste into foam scraps for filling pillows and cushions. The second line, also modular, produces rebonded foam blocks with different densities but all made from polyurethane waste and foam resins. The output can be used in mattresses and sofas in combination with polyurethane and memory foams.

With Brighi’s technology-driven innovations, machines can handle different materials simultaneously, addressing a major concern of the mattress industry, says Marconi. “The problem is that the material meets all together, and separation is not always a possibility,” she says. “At ISPA EXPO 2026, we presented the technology and the final application of what you can do with, for example, mattress scraps and how you can reuse that in your production process. You get the scraps, and you give it new life.”

of each customer.

Advancements in recycling are a Brighi priority. As Alessio Brighi notes, companies integrating recycling technologies into production processes “can not only address waste-disposal challenges but also align with global sustainability goals. This dual benefit makes recycling a compelling area for future innovation in sustainable manufacturing.”

The Brighi team reached a point where it could see that customers often understand the technology they need to recycle scrap materials, but they don’t know how to find uses—or secondary markets—for the resulting products, says Marconi.

“It’s not, ‘What technology do you have?’” she says. “It’s, ‘What am I going to do with it?’ They understand that the solutions are out there, but sometimes they don’t understand what to do with it. And so together, we come up with the application.”

Brighi lines process raw and recycled materials. Shown here are foam, shredded foam, rebonded foam, and apparel scraps before and after processing.

With its constant innovations, Brighi can guide manufacturers through a range of available options. While rebonding for carpet padding is a mattress-industry mainstay, customers can also transform scraps into profit centers by seeking out markets in insulation, flooring, and footwear. Possibilities surface to sell reconstituted foam crafted at density requirements—and even colors and brightness—suitable for the varied needs of the bedding and furniture industries to use as inner layers, Morani adds.

Solutions based on listening

Relationships drive the Brighi culture. Solutions might start small, targeting a single obstacle, but intensifying connections give Brighi’s multifaceted team of solutions engineers—in fields including mechanics, electronics, and software—insights into a full suite of solutions. Through ongoing dialogue, listening, and deeper conversations, Brighi team members share their expertise, which can lead to automation that aligns with budgets and strategic plans.

“Brighi is a company that follows customer development,” says Morani. “We are always considering the stakeholders and what the stakeholders are expecting from us. We pay great attention to our job and to the connections with our customers and our suppliers.”

This is why every new project begins with an analysis of the customer’s entire production process, leading to tailored solutions that can save on transport and logistics through optimal packaging, reduce raw material purchase through efficient opening of packaged fibers and microfibers, and lead the transformation of waste into high-quality products.

Tangible value

At Brighi, every innovation begins with the customer. The company’s approach is rooted in understanding each manufacturer’s unique challenges and evolving alongside them, ensuring that every solution delivers tangible value in day-to-day production.

Rather than offering one-size-fits-all systems, Brighi develops technologies that enhance efficiency, improve product quality, and give manufacturers greater control over their processes. This customer-driven approach has recently translated into the development of new technologies tailored to real production needs, including solutions for the automated creation of covers with integrated zipper attachment, fully automated manufacturing of outdoor cushions, and systems designed to fold and package oversized rugs and specialty pads.

The company’s commitment extends beyond installation. Brighi supports its customers through continuous collaboration, helping them adapt to changing market demands with solutions that grow more refined over time. By combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of production realities, the company enables faster, more flexible operations while maintaining a focus on sustainability and long-term profitability, says Morani.

“It’s a mentality that follows us through the entire process,” she says. “It doesn’t stop once the machine is installed. Our philosophy is about always putting the customer at the center—not just answering a phone call but being there with the right technology and expertise whenever they need it.”

This close partnership is what drives Brighi forward. By staying aligned with customer needs—whether developing a new process or optimizing an existing one—the company brings together its teams, technologies, and experience to deliver solutions that truly fit.
