2018 World Mattress Industry Report Now Available

World consumption of mattresses is worth about $27 billion, increasing by 4% yearly during the past decade, according to the 2018 World Mattress Industry Report, released in July by the Milan-based Centre for Industrial Studies.

According to Giovanna Castellina, CSIL international marketing director, “The main consuming region is Asia and Pacific, followed by North America and Europe. At a country level, a large share of world mattress consumption (approximately 70%) takes place in five countries only: the United States, China, Brazil, India and Germany.

“Values of the top two countries are very close; however, China showed the most impressive increase in terms of mattress consumption over the last years, and important growth rates were registered also by other Asian countries like India and Vietnam.”

The International Sleep Products Association is offering members a summary of Part 1 of the report, which can be downloaded from SleepProducts.org/Resources/Statistics/Historical-Market-Data. This section reports on production, consumption and international trade of mattresses and includes a section of world mattress industry statistics.

Members also can purchase the full, five-part report from CSIL at a 30% discount by visiting WorldFurnitureOnline.com/Research-Market/The-World-Mattress-Industry-0058540.html or contacting Castellina at castellina@csilmilano.com.

The report analyzes the global mattress sector, focusing on the 50 major mattresses manufacturing countries, with current and historical data, trends in production of mattresses, market size, international trade flows and market forecasts for 2019. It includes profiles and addresses of manufacturers and information on mattress industry suppliers.

This year, the edition includes analysis for six additional countries — Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Philippines, Serbia and Slovakia.
