Crossing Channels at Las Vegas Market

Perhaps it won’t be a typical show in hot-hot Las Vegas after all. Normally, the Summer Las Vegas Market (July 28-Aug. 1) is sort of sleepy from a product-launch perspective, but this time the news releases are rolling in.

In addition to all the companies bolded in this article, my email inbox holds news releases from Boyd Sleep, Customatic, Diamond, Eclipse International, Englander, King Koil, Logicdata, Mlily, PureCare, Pure Talalay Bliss, Reverie, exhibitors at the Specialty Sleep Association showroom and Therapedic. I’m sure I’ve missed someone. Let me know who! (bnelles@sleepproducts.org)

And, wait, there’s more. The International Market Centers says the 13th floor of Building B now will be all bedding vendors, with some interesting new additions.

Casper is opening its first wholesale showroom in B-1301. That’s a big change of pace for the 5-year-old company whose famed name is synonymous with direct-to-consumer boxed beds.

Las Vegas Market in the courtyard summer 2018DreamCloud Holdings, which was founded in 2016 as a DTC retailer of imported mattresses also is opening a showroom on the 13th floor of Building B. The company sells DreamCloud, Level Sleep and Nectar mattresses and has rebranded as Resident Home.

In addition, other exhibitors in Las Vegas are a reminder or bellwether of the growing trend of longtime mattress industry components suppliers selling finished mattresses and sleep accessories through wholesale and direct channels.

Textile major and industry supplier Culp Inc. will open its own showroom to showcase sleep accessories and home goods under the Culp Home Fashions and eLuxury labels. You’ll find them in B-930. At the winter show, they were in the Specialty Sleep Association’s exhibition space in Building C.

Another mattress industry supplier, foamer NCFI Polyurethanes, will open a showroom at C-1578, offering all-foam mattresses.

Joining Leggett & Platt, Corsicana and all of the others on the 13th floor of Building B will be Ergomotion (B-1380) and Malouf (B-1350), both moving into expanded showrooms. Malouf is adding bedroom furniture to its lineup.

Also, the Malouf Foundation will sponsor another impactful Forging Freedom event, Monday, 4:45 p.m. in C-1312. This one will be about how to protect children from online predators. Speaker Jason Weis with The Demand Project, will use a web app to demonstrate how quickly and easily online predators can target children.

In a big switch from its longtime practice of saving product launches for January, the Serta brand has some big news to share about iComfort. So, I’ll be sure to head over to A-701 as soon as possible.

The folks at Blu Sleep, fresh from an appearance on network television (CBS’s “The Talk”), will be featuring their redesigned pillows.

Mattress manufacturer Southerland is introducing its Family of Brands concept, which it describes as a fully supported “private-label program across the entire product and price spectrum.”

Richard Brass gave us a heads-up at Interzum Cologne that Reveal by XSENSOR is readying for a big launch. It’s unveiling the new Reveal 3.0 software this month.

We’ll report back to you on as much as we can in our post-market wrap-up story. In the meantime, follow my travels through this show on Instagram (BedTimes-SleepSavvy) and Twitter (@SleepSavvyMag and @BedTimesMag) beginning July 28.

See you in Vegas!
