Logan, Utah-based sleep products supplier Malouf has expanded its legal team by hiring Jeff Steed for the newly created position of chief legal officer.
With more than 12 years of experience representing global technology and finance corporations, Steed will focus on protecting Malouf’s work in areas including asset protection, cross-border expansion, data privacy, intellectual property and strategic acquisitions, according to a news release.
Prior to joining Malouf, Steed was an equity partner at Kirton McConkie, a law firm based in Salt Lake City. In that role, he represented a variety of corporations and investment funds. He speaks frequently on topics involving asset protection, foreign direct investment, intellectual property and multi-jurisdictional practice.
Additionally, Steed recently was named as one of Utah’s Forty Under 40 by Utah Business Magazine. He’s an adjust law professor at the University of Utah and sits on the board of directors for a number of public charities and companies.
In his new role, Steed will manage the company’s in-house legal team and collaborate with employees of all departments to strengthen the company’s current intellectual property — from product development to design to customized software.
“Jeff is an invaluable addition to the team,” said Sam Malouf, chief executive officer. “His knowledge and expertise will elevate our industry-leading product design, packaging and branding.”
Speaking about his new position, Steed said: “Malouf is a successful company dedicated to doing good in the world — for its employees, customers, stakeholders and society at large. As chief legal officer, my goal is to lead strategic initiatives that will increase the valuation and visibility of the company to ensure sustainable growth and development.”
