My Green Mattress, a factory-direct maker and retailer of mattresses based in LaGrange, Illinois, has been awarded the GOLS and GOTS Organic Factory Certification by Control Union Certifications.
The recognition demonstrates that the company works to meet requirements in the craftsmanship of organic textile and organic latex sleep products.
The company said in a news release that it always has sourced eco-conscious materials to create its mattresses and that now the process by which the products are crafted also is certified organic.
The company said it handcrafts its mattresses from sustainable and recyclable materials, including GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex and GOTS-certified wool. Other criteria the factory meets to be certified organic include maintaining top standard cleanliness, operating state-of-the-art machinery, and ensuring a safe work environment. The company packages and ships its products in recycled cardboard boxes and emails receipts and other order information in an effort to reduce paper waste.
“When it comes to quality sleep products, there is no room for subpar materials or design,” said Tim Masters, owner and master craftsman. “It has been my life’s work to reinvent sleep products and source the best, organic materials like coconut fiber, latex and wool to innovate and enhance the products on which people spend one-third of their lives. This certification is a major testament to the dedication of our employees and to the sustainable processes used in our workshop.”
In conjunction with the organic factory certification, My Green Mattress has introduced two new products: an organic Dunlop latex pillow and the Kiwi mattress. The Kiwi mattress is flippable for extended life.
My Green Mattress is a division of Quality Sleep Shop, which celebrated 50 years of business in 2019.
