Eclipse Adds Florida Licensee

Licensing group Eclipse International has inked a deal with Biscayne Bedding International giving the Hialeah, Florida-based producer the right to make and market the Eclipse portfolio of brands in that state. Specifically, the arrangement gives Biscayne the right to manufacture the Eastman House, Eclipse, Ernest Hemingway, Pure Talalay Bliss and Velika bed brands.

“We’ve known Biscayne Bedding for some time and respect the growth it has undergone throughout the years under the ownership of Jan and Silke Wettergren,” said Stuart Carlitz, president and chief executive officer of Eclipse International, which has headquarters in North Brunswick, New Jersey. “Eclipse and Biscayne have worked together in the hospitality segment for several years, and this formal agreement is a great extension of that partnership.”

Biscayne Bedding began operation in 1949 and today is owned by husband and wife team Jan and Silke Wettergren who bought the company in 2011.

Jan Wettergren held manufacturing and operations management posts with major brands prior to purchasing the Biscayne plant. The Wettergrens’ principal distribution is to brick-and-mortar retailers, interior designers and cruise ship companies.

“Jan will work closely with our quality control team and engineers in enhancing standards across our network,” Carlitz said.

Wettergren added: “I had the opportunity to attend a number of the group’s licensing meetings, and I liked the camaraderie and teamwork I saw in the network. Our team looks forward to being part of the organization.”
