In March, polyurethane foam supplier Future Foam, headquartered in Council Bluffs, Iowa, expanded into three new regional markets with its purchase of polyurethane foam pouring and fabrication facilities from FXI Holdings Inc. and Innocor Inc. The latter two companies were required to divest the holdings in order to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that FXI’s acquisition of Innocor would violate federal antitrust law.

Future Foam’s new facilities are in Elkhart, Indiana; Kent, Washington; and Tupelo, Mississippi.

“This is a very exciting event at Future Foam, and we are thrilled to take over the operations and begin serving these markets,” said Patrick Medinger, Future Foam chief financial officer. “Future Foam is a family-owned company that has been making polyurethane foam since 1958. We pride ourselves on customer service, quality and innovation. We are a team of innovators guided by a passion to continually develop customer-driven solutions. (And) we employ, manufacture and invest where our customers conduct their business.”

Future Foam produces a full range of flexible polyurethane foams used in bedding applications, from visco-elastic to high-resiliency foams. Other key markets include carpet cushioning, home furnishings, packaging and transportation. The company operates foam pouring, molding, fabrication and converting plants that supply raw materials, foam components and finished products. It also offers its customers fulfillment services.

The new facilities bring Flexible Foam’s plant count to 30 facilities in the United States, one in China and one in Europe. It has more than 2,000 loyal employees whose average tenure is more than 10 years.

According to the company, it also is one of the leading foam recyclers in the world, as it uses post-industrial waste to produce carpet and flooring underlayment, also known as rebond.
