The U.K.’s Vita Group, a major European supplier of flexible polyurethane foams, has acquired Usleep Ltd. (formerly Duflex Foam Ltd.). Founded in 2003, Usleep specializes in turnkey services for online, direct-to-consumer bed brands, from product design and development, to manufacturing and product fulfillment. Formerly in Ilkeston, England, Usleep now is based at Vita headquarters in Middleton, England.
Usleep has two highly automated production plants in Ashton Under Lyne and Castle Donnington that run the latest mattress-manufacturing equipment. It produces foam, spring and hybrid mattresses.
“The Vita Group’s scale, innovation and operational capabilities complement well with Usleep, and together we will offer a compelling package of differentiated foam, right through to final white label production and fulfilment to consumers,” said Gilbert Davids, managing director of Vita’s Comfort division. “Our commitment to increase our sustainability offering has made significant strides in 2021, and we have the advanced materials capability to enhance our offerings to our customers further.”
Usleep is Vita’s third 2021 acquisition, following on the heels of chemical producer IMPE Srl in Naples, Italy, and foam converter Technical Foam Services in Corby, England. The purchases are part of Vita’s strategy of growing its end-to-end bedding business across Europe, a news release said.
Vita’s three divisions — Comfort, Flooring and Technical — develop, manufacture and market a wide range of flexible polyurethane foam, Talalay latex and flooring products. In addition to the United Kingdom, it operates plants in France, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands and Romania.
