Global Systems Group employee, Darryl Oyler, died on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the age of 79, following a brief and unexpected illness.

Oyler served the mattress industry for more than 55 years and developed great respect and friendships among his peers, according to a news release.

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, he started as a draftsman at James Cash Machine Company and his broad career included machine design, service and new equipment installations for WBSCO mattress wrappers and Gribetz International.

Oyler’s extensive machinery knowledge and deep industry background ultimately lead him to a sales position for GSG, which owns Gribetz International, company officials said.

“We appreciated Darryl’s great wisdom regarding mattress machinery, but, more importantly, we enjoyed his kind heart, honest integrity and friendly demeanor with everyone,” said GSG President of Sales Paul Block.

Working within the mattress industry was a passion for Oyler, but he also enjoyed bowling, watching NASCAR races, golfing and sharing time with family. Oyler was a devoted husband to his wife of 60 years, Josephine, and they were blessed with a large family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
