Agren, an appliance and mattress retailer based in Auburn, Maine, with seven stores throughout the state, has launched its “You Just Need a Great Flippin’ Mattress” advertising campaign to promote the benefits of two-sided mattresses in conjunction with independent mattress manufacturer Gold Bond.
According to a news release, the campaign is supported by videos of actors playing mattress shoppers suggestively referencing the Flippin’ Mattress in different vignettes. When the shoppers see the two-sided mattresses the retailer offers, they all come together for a celebratory dance. Agren also created a separate landing page, flippinmattresses.com, to promote the retailer’s products and offers.
“A new generation of consumers — many of whom never heard of two-sided mattresses — are waking up to the concept,” said Jason Pauley, Agren’s chief operating officer. “They are longer lasting and really add tremendous value to the purchase at any price point.”
Gold Bond is the private label partner for Agren’s two-sided mattress program because they share the same “family-owned” values of quality and service for which the Hartford, Connecticut-based manufacturer is known, the news release said.
“Gold Bond quality and value is exceptional, but we are equally as impressed with the fact that Bob and Skip (Gold Bond’s CEO and president, respectively) answer their phones directly and do their own training for the chain’s RSAs and store managers. This is so effective. It helps our team sell more product better than anything else we have seen in the past 15 years we have been selling mattresses,” Pauley added.
“We have always touted the benefits of two-sided mattresses because they perform better and last longer. Even when many other manufacturers moved away from the construction to save money, we have invested in it. The result is that consumers — young and older — are increasingly choosing two-sided beds,” said Gold Bond CEO Robert Naboicheck. “We are thrilled to partner with Agren on their private label program because they share our corporate values. They are really wonderful retailers who take the time to invest in their people and nurture their customer experiences.”
