NEWS RELEASE

NORCROSS, Ga. (July 13, 2026) — Georgia Furniture Mart is going out of business after furnishing homes throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area for four decades. The final sale begins this week at the company’s two stores which encompass a combined 152,000 square feet of showroom space.
Owner Michael Hall and his business partner Tim Padden have chosen leading furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) to handle the going-out-of-business events.
“It’s an honor to help guide Georgia Furniture Mart through its final sale,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of PFP. “The company’s commitment to customer service, its extensive selection and its involvement in the community have earned the respect of customers and the furniture industry.”
Georgia Furniture Mart was founded by Hall in 1986 as Underpriced Furniture and was rebranded to its current name in 2020. The flagship Norcross store has been a fixture in the community for 40 years with its impressive 92,000-square-feet of showroom space and an attached 20,000-square-foot outlet store. In the same year of the rebrand to Georgia Furniture Mart, Hall and Padden opened a distribution center in Tucker, enabling the company to offer next-day delivery services. Georgia Furniture Mart continued expansion in 2024 with the opening of its second showroom in Kennesaw.
For 40 years, Hall and Padden built Georgia Furniture Mart into one of the area’s leading furniture destinations, offering an extensive selection of quality furniture, mattresses, rugs and home accessories backed by exceptional customer service. They have also given back to the community through ongoing support of veterans organizations, youth programs, St. Jude and other local charitable initiatives. With the evolving retail landscape and the sale of the company’s properties, the owners made the difficult decision to close Georgia Furniture Mart permanently.
Georgia Furniture Mart’s final sales begin July 16. For more information, visit www.gafurnituremart.com.
