ZZZest, headquartered in Alpine, Utah, makers of the poured-gel Tribid mattress that launched in fall 2013, debuted GelSpring mattresses at Las Vegas Market Jan. 26-30. The beds have a buckling gel core. In 1998, ZZZest principals Terry and Tony Pearce (the duo behind GelMakers LLC and EdiZONE LLC) first introduced pressure-relieving buckling gel for medical mattresses.

Top layers of the bed include high-end foams and latex that are bonded to the GelSpring core. Every mattress is topped with Qool poured gel, a “breathable” gel that permeates the top layer of foam next to the sleep surface.

Each of the hundreds of buckling gel columns are designed with a pressure threshold to softly allow sinking in, and any excess pressure moves to other gel columns which stand firm because they have less pressure, the company said.

ZZZest has invested in new manufacturing equipment allowing it to produce queen and king GelSpring cores as a single piece. The beds retail from $1,999 to $2,399.

“This pressure relief is the best ever offered in the consumer mattress industry and buckling gel has proven to be ultra-durable,” said Tony Pearce. “The back support and spinal alignment can be felt at point of purchase by the customer.”
