Mattress Development Co. LLC, dba Bedding Industries of America and Eclipse International, is supplying Pope Francis and his entourage with beds during the pontiff’s visit to Philadelphia to attend the World Meeting of Families later this month.
BIA, with headquarters in North Brunswick, New Jersey, manufactures the Eclipse and Eastman House brands, as well as the online brand Saatva. The company delivered a queen-size Saatva Loom & Leaf Luxury memory foam bed for the pope to the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, as well as 30 Eclipse Perfection Rest and 30 Eastman House Hospitality mattresses for the papal entourage. The beds are to be a permanent gift to the seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.
“We are honored to be part of this historic event and to work closely with the World Meeting of Families to assure that the Holy Father and his entourage were well-rested and comfortable during their visit to Philadelphia,” said Stuart Carlitz, BIA chief executive officer and a Philadelphia native. “We specifically inquired about the comfort needs and preferences for the Holy Father and those accompanying him. Based on the information we received, we recommended a ‘relaxed firm’ Saatva Loom & Leaf memory foam bed for the pope and high-performance Eclipse and Eastman House beds for those accompanying him.”
