Retail exec Bookbinder joins Comfort Solutions

Mattress licensing group Comfort Solutions has named Mike Bookbinder senior vice president of retail sales development, a newly created post.

Bookbinder is responsible for current and new accounts and implementing strategic growth plans in the retail sales arena.

He reports to David Binke, executive vice president of sales for the Willowbrook, Ill.–based company.

Previously, Bookbinder was executive vice president of sales and marketing for Sleepy’s, a chain based in Hicksville, N.Y. During his 11–year tenure with the retailer, Sleepy’s grew from 171 locations to more than 700. Prior to that, he spent 27 years with City Mattress, a regional sleep chain headquartered in Bonita Springs, Fla. He held multiple sales, marketing and top executive posts there, including executive vice president, chief operating officer and president.

“We’re very excited about his appointment and the hands–on expertise he brings,” said Dave Roberts, Comfort Solutions president. “It’s extremely important to understand today’s evolving retail environment. Mike’s impressive background and extensive retail experience will be instrumental in helping us elevate and extend services to our current customers, while cultivating solid, long–term relationships with new accounts.”
