Mattress maker International Bedding has named Dan Hige president and chief operating officer and appointed Dennis Straily vice president of sales.
Hige joined International Bedding in 2008 and previously was senior vice president of manufacturing for the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.–based company. He has 18 years of experience in the mattress industry. As president,
Hige leads all sales and operations functions and reports to Chief Executive Officer Jeff Maillet.
“There are very few manufacturers that have faced the economic hurdles of the past two years and improved overall dollar return by more than 25% each year. I’m proud to say that IB falls in that category,” Hige said. “It was a coordinated effort on the part of our entire team to develop the first mattress line named for a sleep expert—the Dr. Breus Bed—and that reflects on our strength as a company and on our ability to offer unique and meaningful programs to retailers.”
Straily, a 20–year veteran of the bedding industry, joined IB in 2005 as a regional vice president of sales. In his new role, he is responsible for working closely with existing retail partners, expanding key relationships, cultivating new business and focusing on the development of the entire Dr. Breus brand and program. He reports to Hige.
“We’re very pleased to announce these appointments, which are not only well deserved but also strategically important to International Bedding,” Maillet said. “Both Dan and Dennis have contributed extensively to the success of IB. Their promotions carry forward the company’s core values—our culture of continuous improvement and our drive to meet or exceed all of our goals and strategies.”
