Carolina Mattress Guild adds to sales teams

Thomasville, N.C.-based mattress manufacturer Carolina Mattress Guild has hired two industry sales veterans. Gerry Newman was named account manager and J.R. Raab was named national accounts manager.

Newman, a 25-year mattress industry veteran, is responsible for leading the company’s efforts to market its brand in the Northeast. Most recently, he was senior account manager and Northeast vice president of sales at International Bedding Corp. Prior to that, he held posts with Simmons and with Macy’s corporate buying division.

Raab has more than two decades of experience in the bedding business and is responsible for national accounts business development in the Northeast. Most recently, he was senior vice president of national accounts for International Bedding. Prior to that, he spent 18 years with Sealy as senior key account manager.

“The expansion of our sales executive team further strengthens our ability to meet the needs of our customers and continue to expand our national growth plans,” said Neal Grigg, Carolina Mattress Guild president. “This is a tremendous opportunity for CMG. Both men have a great reputation and their overall expertise and organizational skills further position us for the future.”

Both Newman and Raab report to Tom Rehwinkel, Carolina Mattress Guild national sales manager.
