Industrias Subinas opens U.S. facility

Industrias Subiñas, a supplier of spring units for mattresses and upholstery with headquarters in Vizcaya, Spain, has opened a facility in Windsor, Conn.

Subiñas USA LLC opened in January and is expected to employ about 35 people when operating at full capacity, said Javier Subiñas, who serves as chief executive officer of the U.S. facility. The factory is equipped with machinery from the company’s plants in Spain and workers in the United States were trained by Industrias Subiñas workers. Subiñas USA will serve customers along the East Coast of the United States and Canada and specializes in Bonnell springs.

Industrias Subiñas continues to manufacture Bonnell, pocket and LFK springs in Spain and will s ship pocket and LFK spring units to customers in the United States and Canada from facilities in Spain as needed.

Industrias Subiñas was started in 1959 by the Subiñas family and was sold to Carthage, Mo.-based industry supplier Leggett & Platt in 2000. The Subiñas family bought the company back in 2008. The company has another division, Comercial Subiñas, that produces wood working machinery and tools.
