Culp hires Veach to manage new cut-and-sew operation

Culp Inc. logoCulp Home Fashions, the mattress ticking division of High Point, N.C.-based Culp Inc., plans to open a cut-and-sew operation—Culp-Lava Applied Sewn Solutions—in Stokesdale, N.C., and named Jeff Veach as business unit manager.

The new operation is part of a joint marketing agreement with sewn cover and quilt producer A. Lava & Son, based in Chicago. The facility is wholly owned by Culp.

As business unit manager for Culp-Lava Applied Sewn Solutions, Veach is responsible for directing production of finished mattress covers. Veach has 16 years of textile experience. Previously, he was national sales manager for Heritage House Fabrics. Prior to that, he was vice president of sales and operations for Brentwood Textiles.

“Jeff’s extensive industry experience provides us with an outstanding combination of sales and operations expertise to expand the vertical integration of our mattress fabric platform,” said Iv Culp, Culp Home Fashions president. “Under his leadership, Culp-Lava will design, produce and market mattress covers that will respond to industry demands. We are very excited about the opportunities ahead for Culp-Lava Applied Sewn Solutions and look forward to working together with Jeff and his team.”

In addition to Veach’s appointment, Gary Bottenhagen was named production manager and Cali Thurmond was named human resources and administrative manager of the new cut-and-sew business, which is set to employ 129 when fully operational this year.
