Boston-based mattress licensing group Spring Air International held its third International Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, Oct. 15-18. The annual forum enables international licensees to share information and practices.
This year’s event attracted mattress makers from China, Egypt, India, Korea, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and United Arab Emirates. Indonesia licensee Massindo Group hosted the event.
The four-day program included a tour of the Jakarta factory, presentations and updates by licensees and major suppliers, and a question-and-answer session.
“Our international licensees are a very cohesive group, keenly focused on learning from one another and growing the Spring Air brand in their respective countries,” said Eric Spitzer, Spring Air chief operating officer. “Most are vertical operations–they pour their own foam and make their own innerspring products. This enables them to be aggressive in their markets while keeping a close watch on quality.”
Spring Air President Rick Robinson said the brand’s overseas sales top $300 million. The majority of international licensees “are also making a substantial investment in building brand awareness every year. Many are either establishing Spring Air-only stores in their markets or are planning to increase the number of single-source outlets they operate in the future.”
Spring Air operates in the United States and 33 other countries.
