Mattress and pillow manufacturer Tempur-Pedic International, which has headquarters in Lexington, Ky., has hired W. Timothy Yaggi to fill the newly created position of chief operating officer. Yaggi reports to Mark Sarvary, Tempur-Pedic president and chief executive officer.
The appointment of a COO underscores Tempur-Pedic’s ongoing commitment to its strategic growth plan and the evolution of its business, brands and product lines, according to a news release.
Yaggi has more than 25 years of operational experience with durable goods companies. Most recently, he was group president of the North America Builder Group at Masco Corp. Prior to that, he held a number of senior management positions at Whirlpool Corp. While at Whirlpool, he was responsible for leading North American operational functions—including brand marketing, product management and development, sales, supply chain and consumer care—that accounted for approximately $12 billion in revenue.
“Tim will be a great asset to Tempur-Pedic,” Sarvary said. “He brings a wealth of talent and deep operational experience in consumer products that will help Tempur-Pedic continue to grow as the worldwide leader in premium and specialty sleep.”
Commenting on his appointment, Yaggi said, “I’m looking forward to working with Mark and the entire Tempur-Pedic team to implement the strategic vision and to help manage the operational complexity of a company that has achieved tremendous growth.”
