Despite the Recession, factory direct Best Mattress expanded into a second showroom and grew its business.
Best Mattress, an 84-year-old factory direct based in West Columbia, S.C., will be featured on MSNBC news program “Your Business,” Sunday, March 10 at 7:30 a.m. The family-owned company caught the attention of MSNBC news producers after it successfully expanded its business during the economic downturn.
A video promoting the upcoming segment at MSNBC’s Your Business Facebook page describes Best Mattress’s strategy as “attraction through expansion—a South Carolina mattress company combats a sluggish economy by using expansion to attract customers.”
In 2012, despite the recession and a 20% dip in business, Best Mattress owner and President Buddy Delaney decided to add a second retail showroom in Columbia. The new store raised the company’s profile, drew new customers and allowed Delaney to bring his plant back into full production.
