Tempur-Pedic shareholders approve name change

At its annual meeting Thursday, Tempur-Pedic International shareholders approved changing the company’s name to Tempur Sealy International Inc., the Associated Press has reported. The name change follows Tempur-Pedic’s purchase of Trinity, N.C.-based mattress major Sealy for $228.6 million. The deal closed on March 18. Tempur Sealy global headquarters is in Lexington, Ky. Subsidiaries will continue to operate under their existing names. The company also will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the “TPX” symbol. A new Tempur Sealy website, www.tempursealy.com, launched this week.
