Mattress industry supplier HSM, headquartered in Hickory, N.C., donated $10,000 to the City of Hickory Fire Department toward the purchase of new bicycles for needy children. The department holds an annual bike drive as part of the Bikes for Tykes program.
In total, 647 bikes were distributed to the families of eligible children in Catawba County, N.C., by volunteers from HSM and the Hickory Fire Department. Families also received holiday gifts of toys, clothes, a turkey or ham and a $15 grocery gift card.
