Restonic 75th anniversary year had plenty of social sparkle

Resty the Restonic bear in HawaiiMattress licensing group Restonic has announced the winner of its Lei Down sweepstakes, the culmination of the Albany, N.Y.-based company’s diamond-themed 75th anniversary celebration, which made use of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Lei Down participants entered to win an all–inclusive, five-day trip for two to Diamond Head, Hawaii. Grand prize winner Leah from Madison, Wis., continued the fun and conversation in social media by snapping pictures of her Restonic teddy bear “Resty” on vacation with her in Hawaii.

“It seems fitting that on our 75th jubilee, we ventured away from traditional advertising and utilized new media to reach consumers,” said Ron Passaglia, Restonic president and chief executive officer. “By interacting on our social media channels, we were able to produce strong results that supported our licensee and retail partners’ sales strategies.”

In total, more than 20,000 people participated in the three-part social media marketing campaign, which included a Dare to Dream contest—entrants submitted a photo depicting why they needed a new mattress, and the Twinkle Twinkle contest—a Pinterest-based promotion that awarded a two-carat diamond ring to a deserving bride.
