Ultra-premium mattress producer Hastens Group has named Robert Carlen as chief executive officer. Previously, Carlen was chief financial officer, a post he has held since 2012. He is based at the company’s headquarters in Koping, Sweden, and replaces Washington-based Nick Braden, who left the company in December.

Carlen is responsible for guiding the company’s “aggressive and compelling growth strategy,” and for the operational management of the company, a news release stated.

“Robert has had a strong influence in the business since 2012, and his appointment will enable us to continue with the plans we have made and provide stability and continuity for our partners, our employees and our business,” said Jan Ryde, Hastens chairman and owner.

Commenting on his promotion, Carlen said, “Hastens is driven by a passion to make a better world by offering the best sleep in the best bed, based on Swedish craftsmanship. And I am proud to lead the company in the strong growth phase we are now entering.”
