Bedding sales show slight August decline

ISPA logoUnit sales of mattresses and foundations decreased 2.5% in August, as compared with unit sales in the same month of 2013, according to the International Sleep Products Association’s August Bedding Barometer.

The wholesale dollar value of mattresses and foundations grew 0.5%, as compared with August 2013, and the average unit selling price increased 3%. Year-to-date unit sales and the wholesale dollar value increased 0.8% and 4.4%, respectively, and year-to-date AUP grew 3.6%.

In the three-month period, June to August, sales results show that mattress and foundation unit shipments and wholesale revenues increased by 1.9% and 5.4%, respectively, as compared with the same period of 2013. AUP increased 3.5%.
