Jumpsource acquires United Mattress Machinery assets

Jumpsource, a metal parts supplier to a number of industries, has purchased the entire parts inventory, specifications and other assets of the former United Mattress Machinery, one of the first manufacturers of tape-edge machines, which was based in Weymouth, Massachusetts. All United parts have been relocated to Jumpsource’s Kentucky distribution center.

“We are manufacturing and distributing replacement parts for the thousands of United tape-edge machines, lace tufters and Fales single-thread quilters in operation in the global market,” said Michael Porter Jr., vice president of global sales for Jumpsource, headquartered in Beverly, Massachusetts. “United is a very strong and recognized brand and we are aligning ourselves to be the main parts supplier. The move allows us to continue Jumpsource’s evolution as the largest manufacturer of custom sewing parts in the world.”

Jumpsource also is transitioning from a parts-only supplier to a machinery company, Porter said. The company introduced its first tape-edge machine at ISPA EXPO 2014, and plans on launching several new machines in the next two to three years.
