North Carolina honors Kingsdown as ‘Manufacturer of the Year’

Mattress maker Kingsdown Inc., which has headquarters in Mebane, North Carolina, was named 2014 North Carolina Manufacturer of the Year in the mid-size manufacturer category (revenues of $25 million to $250 million) by McGladrey and Fifth Third Bank, in cooperation with the N.C. Chamber of Commerce. The award is in its third year and honors small, mid-size and large manufacturers in the state.

“We are honored to receive the award for mid-sized manufacturer of the year as we also celebrate our 110th anniversary as a North Carolina-based company,” said Frank Hood, Kingsdown president and chief executive officer. “I am very proud of all our associates for the hard work and relentless attention they’ve placed on quality and innovation. Through hard work and determination, Kingsdown has grown to be a global company with facilities in over 20 countries and we are proud to say it all started in North Carolina.”

Award nominees are evaluated on their achievements in growth, innovation and job creation by a panel of manufacturing-industry specialists.

In a news release, Kingsdown said it has experienced a great deal of recent growth due to its advancements in digital technology that allows for a more personalized mattress-selection process and sleep experience.
